Dog memory

People often think that children and dogs do not have a good memory, after all brains are apparently smaller compared with the thinking brains of adults, but small does not mean less functional.

For many years Champy and I did not see our pet sitters. They used to care for us when mom was not around; they took us for a walk, and served our lunch. They have always been sweet people with us, consent to us, let us be near them and they never have enough kisses from us.
One of they came to visit us  few weeks ago, and we did recognize her perfectly. As soon as the door opened,  Champy jumped  saying hello to her and moving his tail and when she came to the place  I was, even though I couldn't see her, I recognized her perfume. No one could believe it, but I know well that if Robin is close, there is nothing to fear.
Weeks later came Theresa, and I recognized her perfume very well, I couldn’t resist the temptation to hug her and Champy played with her. When mom and dad are not around, it is necessary to trust someone and once some links are created, it’s difficult to break them. Emotional memory lets us recognize those special persons.
I remember places where I've been and although I cannot see them, like when we cross my favorite bridge, or when we  go to our super specia l Lake. The aromas invade my nose and I kne I a.mpy acknowledged spaces and ows when something isn't in place.  This gives us anchor to the world and allows us to enjoy the moment.
Today here, tomorrow who knows?!, but life goes on its way between snow, cold, heat, flowers and people.
