Summer is back. A year ago I got sick but now everything is calm, I’m
learning to adapt to diabetes.
Summer brings the opportunity to explore beyond the usual, so when mom
makes things out of the ordinary, something exciting is going to happen.
Mom took Champy and I to the tub to take a bath. I’m the first to enjoy it and
the freshness and fun of water and bubbles started. One rub here, another
there; we wait a little time so the bubbles perfume can stay in my coat and then
all the shampoo is rinsed with a shower of small to ensure that water reaches
all the corners. A little patience and then comes the towel to remove the excess
of water.
Already out of the tub, another towel comes into action, I shake a little,
and then hugs here, the towel starts to keep most of the water, another rub here
and another there, and I am free to enjoy wallowing between the towel and while
I can have a moment of joy, Champy enters the tub, not with his best smile, but
he always shares the good, the not so good things and adventures.
At the end, mom cleans
our faces with more detail, nothing can hide our beauty!, a ball of cotton caresses
us, we are not only clean, also we smell good!.
During all afternoon, mother board things, our toys suffered our fate, and
after them our beds and blankets, but they bathe circling in the washing
machine. Certainly something special is going to happen.
That night is normal, dinner time comes, my insulin injection, the last change
to go to the bathroom, mom and dad’s hug... I don’t know if I can be patient to know what tomorrow
will bring.
We woke up at the usual time; I think that emotion gave me much
encouragement to walk more than usual. After breakfast mom continues all
preparations, she goes up and down putting things in order.
Mom goes up for the last time and she took me with my bed, Champy was already
expected me in the back seat of the car. We all are ready to begin a journey,
if our toys are with us and it was a requirement to be bathed implies that it
will be a great trip.
The wind fills the car; the sun warms as affectionate hugs and we just stop
at brief moments to water the grass somewhere where we have never been, the day
turns into night and finally dad stops the car, and starts working the memory
of a known place. We had previously already been here, a place where we have
always found love and peace.
We enjoy the visit; I feel so much peace of being in a place where my
memory recognizes places that I saw in the past. Hitting a little with my nose I
try to be sure that I am in the right place to drink water and eat.
After two days, the process of packing is repeated, but this time the trip
is to go home. We cross areas where farms smell like fertilizer and others where the cows leave
their aroma, and without realizing, the night reached us but the memories of the visit
remain present until the next time, when a day before, Mom begins to prepare
everything to get us started. Life goes on!.
