Don't worry pee happy!

Mom found a message that explains how dogs handle stress and it says: “if you can’t eat it or play with it, then pee on it and walk away”.

Humans think that pets don’t understand or speak, but the truth is we have a common language, the emotions. When we do something that appears to be inappropriate or cause confusion, only takes a few minutes to understand what we're trying to say.

When we refuse to eat, it doesn't mean we do not like the flavour in the can, or  croquettes, of course not complain when mom or dad cook for us, it's just that we can not explain that our bodies simply don't want  eat . It's something that books call anorexia. Sometimes it is a kind of nausea in our tummies that make us not to wish to try, and then we say, Thank you, it look great but no thank you.

When we pee where we shouldn’t, it doesn’t mean we are bad or we want to destroy  a furniture or a new mattress, it's just that something does not work correctly , the brake doesn't work: it should stop and open a message saying: do not pee here, or you will cause a revolution, but the brake just not working. And then we leave our message.

It's all part of getting older. Benny and I have been lately started our career, slowly but inexorably. The Race starts from birth, but it finally reaches us with some kind of disorder. Benny suffers irreversible kidney failure, which affects one in 5 cats, approximately, and Benny was the lucky one. It is a progressive disease, so we have seen a gradual deterioration of his kidneys which has resulted in an inability to eliminate waste and purify his blood, so all toxins that accumulate in his blood produce him vomiting and poor appetite.

I learned all that when doctors removed my kidney, their function is to filter and eliminate waste from the blood. And we read that there are some parts called nephrons and they are tiny filtering units contained in the kidneys, and they help to absorb nutrients and eliminate waste through the urine, but also kidneys help releasing enzymes, including one with a funny name: renin, which controls blood pressure and maintains the balance of essential minerals and acid in the blood.

But sadly, although I could live alone with only one kidney, Benny can not survive much with kidney failure. So at home we live one day at a time, and if today we do not like something or we cause a disaster, mom or dad don’t get angry. They say that one day they will miss us.

And what is  a pee when we have given them  more or less 11 years, 131 months, 3960 days, 95,040 hours, 5,781,600 minutes or so of pure and unforgettable fun.

That's why when something bad happens in your day, do not forget these words: do not worry, pee happy!
